Should More Birth Partners be able to stay overnight at James Paget Hospital?

James Paget Hospital has asked us to find out what new/pregnant mums and their birth partners (male or female) think about partners being allowed to stay overnight on Ward 11 postnatally or during induction of labour. On the Central Delivery Suite, birth partners (male and female) are already allowed 24/7.

Currently, birth partners are only allowed to stay on ward 11 if there is a clinical need and if a side room is available. If they are in future allowed to stay on the main ward itself, this would mean up to 15 partners sleeping on a normal chairs next to the bed of their partner, with only curtains separating them from the next mum. We also understand that no bedding or food would be provided.

Please share this survey with others to help us get as many people's opinions as possible!

    B) General Policy

Given the lack of space and funding, the facilities for overnight would be very basic. What are your opinions about these?
